The Antlers: (together)

Frenchkiss

The Antlers’ (together) is a raw and unpolished patchwork of ambient B-sides, remixes, covers and alternate takes that developed not only from band’s critically acclaimed full-length Burst Apart but also from their growing musical community in Brooklyn, N.Y.. This project brought together more than 10 musicians, an expansion from the original three (multi-instrumentalist Darby Cicci, drummer Michael Lerner and frontman Peter Silberman ), with band members trading roles and trying out some different types of collaborations. “Tounge Tied” has the expansive introspection of the Flaming Lips, while “VCR,” a cover of the XX, has the upbeat amiability of Radiohead. Working with Neon Indian (the hazy, romantic 9-minute “Rolled Together”), Nicole Atkins (the beautifully delicate and restrained “Hounds”) and Bear in Heaven (the Sisyphean and complacent 18-minute “Parentheses”), the band creates sprawling, electronic lo-fi soundscapes.
