Brian Eno: Drum Between the Bells

Warp

It’s hard to believe the amount of work that Brian Eno puts out annually. The man’s a machine. In the past year, he’s produced several albums, composed songs for films and recorded his own records. Thankfully, his latest effort does not suffer from this dizzying pace. On Drum Between the Bells, Eno has produced a beautiful sonic landscape of light chimes, haunted synths and reverbed guitars. There is a lot to digest here¬¬––each track is layered and meticulously composed––and you’re likely to discover something new with each listen. Poet Rick Holland, whose abstract lyrics add to the album’s mysteriousness, collaborates with Eno on Bells. Although each track is unique in its own way, “Glitch” and “Cloud 4” are the true standouts.
