Easy Star All-Stars: Dubber Side of the Moon
Easy Star Records
As the popularity of 2003’s Dub Side of the Moon prospers with time, it only makes sense that Easy Star All-Stars would eventually revisit its signature recording. With so many viable contributors—and even different takes on three tracks— Dubber Side of the Moon is the kind of hard-hitting, experimental and relevant reinterpretation that one hopes for. Whether it’s the beautiful, swooping 10 Ft. Ganja Plant remix of “On the Run,” the dubstep, bass-thumping Alchemist take on “Money,” or the percussive, synthed-out Kalbata remix of “Any Colour You Like,” the record is not short of dynamics. Of course, starting with original material as brilliant and timeless as Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon certainly helps, but these reinventions are truly impressive.
