Gaelic Storm: Cabbage

Lost Gain

More than a decade after appearing in Titanic as the steerage band in Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet’s memorable dance scene, Celtic rock group Gaelic Storm is still up to its old tricks: singing about tales of whiskey, women and the Irish homeland (despite the fact that only one member, Patrick Murphy, actually hails from Ireland). For its latest effort, Cabbage, the band is back with 14 Guinness-soaked anthems including “Raised on Black and Tans,” “Just Ran Out of Whiskey” and “Rum Runners.” The group even throws in a cover of Simon & Garfunkel’s “Cecilia.” While Gaelic Storm’s sound has become somewhat predictable during the years, it doesn’t make Cabbage any less enjoyable. Cabbage is perfect for a night of bar hopping.
