The String Cheese Incident: Rhythm of the Road: Volume 1, Incident in Atlanta – 11.17.00

SCI Fidelity
Most great live bands that seminal live moment of musical harmony where everything flows perfectly—a mighty river rolling to the sea. String Cheese Incident’s moment came on Nov. 17, 2000, at a time when the band was hitting its stride, developing a rabid fanbase and adjusting to larger venues. This three-CD show from the Tabernacle—the first of the Rhythm of the Road releases—finds the band on fire, hitting new heights. Crowd energy is through the roof as SCI offers a stellar, varied performance of homegrown favorites, bluegrass and covers of Led Zeppelin, John Coltrane, Talking Heads, Peter Gabriel and Peter Rowan. Banjo whiz Tony Furtado joins for six songs, pushing the musical interplay even further, especially on a powerful “Black Clouds.” For many, it remains the incident.
