Zac Brown Band: You Get What You Give

Atlantic/Southern Ground Artists

Zac Brown knows how his music should sound. Years ago, before The Foundation launched him into the major leagues, he had a clear musical vision: play straight up country songs with heartfelt messages mixed with bits of Southern rock. The same musical vision is still loud-and-clear on his band’s latest album. It would have been easy to allow the musical brilliance of his guests—including Jimmy Buffett on “Knee Deep” and Alan Jackson on “She’s Walking Away”—to overshadow his songs. But you won’t find that. What you will find is the gorgeous, string-filled melodies, down-home lyrics and Southern exuberance that Brown fans have come to love. Doubt it? Listen to album highlights “No Hurry” and “Whiskey Gone” for a sense of the now trademark Zac Brown Band sound.
