!!!: Strange Weather, Isn’t It?

Warp

Brooklyn’s !!! is calling its second Warp full-length its “Berlin record.” Originally the decade-old dance troop’s objective was to channel the journeys of Bowie and Iggy to Deutschland in search of a darker, more experimental edge to its collective sound. But, upon listening to Strange Weather Isn’t It?, one might wonder if it is talking about the city in Germany or the 1980s synth-pop group. Either way you slice it, this is the band’s most enjoyable and catchiest title to date. Produced by !!! with DFA house engineer Eric Broucek, Strange Weather finds the band utilizing the help of its new members, drummer Paul Quattrone and singer Shannon Funchess, to re-imagine the group as a mid-80s version of itself gunning for the number one spot on Casey Kasem’s American Top 40.

Great to hear, Mik! It’s easier to enjoy eotsmhing when you are fully aware of what is going on rather than trying to catch it in a net!
