Mike Gordon : 10/03/2009 Town Ballroom

LivePhish.com

With each passing tour, Phish bassist Mike Gordon’s five-piece solo band continues to gel into an impressively tight unit. Proof can be found on the group’s latest release—and second live album—which contains every note performed at Buffalo’s Town Ballroom this past October and was mixed by Gordon himself and Ben Collette. Town Ballroom shows off the wide range of Gordon’s originals from the quirky, syncopated rhythms of “Can’t Stand Still” to the gritty rock of “Only A Dream” to the country-tinged “Couch Lady.” There’s also plenty of covers including a fast-paced take on the Talking Heads’ “Cities” and a jammed out version of Radiohead’s “15 Step.”

You may have not intended to do so, but I think you have maneagd to express the state of mind that a lot of people are in. The sense of wanting to help, but not knowing how or where, is something a lot of us are going through.
