Yeasayer: Odd Blood

*Yeasayer*’s 2007 debut turned heads with its thoughtful, Bollywood-inspired mix of post-rock weirdness and infectious pop hooks. Odd Blood, the band’s high-profile second album, builds on those hallmarks, starting off with a series of art-pop songs (more accessible than before the previous album) like hits-in-waiting “Ambling Alp” and “Madder Red.” A real post-indie orgasm, even in the face of inevitable Animal Collective comparisons. Odd Blood is the soundtrack for a dance-party after the world ends in 2012: dark and strange, yet inviting and ripe for the expanding tastes of modern rock radio.
