Two Men and a Drummer

Hailing from Asheville, N.C., twin brothers Sherwyn and Kendrick Nicholls formed Two Fresh in August of 2008, soon adding live drummer Colby Buckler. With a slew of pinpoint samples, its sound ranges from calypso backbeats to hip-hop to churning late night dance parties. This past summer, the trio gained slots at festivals such as Electric Daisy, Summer Camp, Forecastle and North Coast, among others. (Conspirator even tapped the 22-year-old Buckler when it needed a drummer during a quick set at this year’s Camp Bisco.) “Right now we’re trying to push the boundaries as far as what we can onstage,” says Kendrick. “It’s been two laptops and a live set of drums for a long time. We’re going to step it up.” Working on their next EP for Alex B’s Elm and Oak label, the twins hope to have the follow up to their debut Baker’s Dozen out this fall.
