Rachelle van Zanten

British Columbia, Canada
Another Canadian Power

“When I first heard [John] Bonham and John Paul Jones holding down a groove, I knew that’s exactly what I wanted to do. They completely shook me,” reveals Canadian songstress and slide guitar buff Rachelle van Zanten whose raw mélange of blues, folk, Americana and serious guitar-shredding is currently shaking up an audience of its own. Her sophomore album, Where Your Garden Grows, features an eclectic batch of personal, straight-from-the-heart lyrics highlighted by intricate string and rhythm arrangements that find a home in the ears of rock and roll junkies everywhere. With self-reflective lyrics to rival Lucinda Williams and riffs that recall classic ‘70s rock, van Zanten, “I purged all of me onto this record. It’s honest, and I think that’s what people are going to like about it the most.”
