The National to Perform ‘Day of the Dead’ Track on ‘CBS This Morning’

May 16, 2016

The National will once again appear on television to perform a Grateful Dead tune from the forthcoming massive tribute album. This time, the group will appear on CBS This Morning on Saturday, May 21, the day after the 59-song compilation is released to the world. The band previously appeared on Late Show with Stephen Colbert to promote the record with a performance of “Morning Dew,” one of the tunes they perform on the record.

Day of the Dead finds the likes of Jim James, Wilco, Bruce Hornsby, The War on Drugs, Kurt Vile and many others paying homage to the Dead with a selection of songs from their vast catalog. Proceeds from the record go towards Red Hot Organization aimed at finding a cure for AIDS. To pre-order, click here.

Aaron and Bryce Dessner, Bob Weir and others spoke to Relix about the project in an expansive cover story. Read an excerpt here and watch the performance of “Morning Dew” below.
