Signed Lockn’ Guitar Auctioned Off for $65k

September 15, 2015

At the Lockn’ Festival this past weekend, HeadCount auctioned off a signed custom D’Angelico guitar at their non-profit village Participation Row. The winning bid was $65,000, placed by Shawn Kroop of Maui, Hawaii.

The guitar, which was played by Bob Weir during his set with Billy and the Kids on Saturday night, was signed by several of the Lockn’ artists, including Robert Plant, Carlos Santana, Leon Russell, Warren Haynes, Widespread Panic’s Jimmy Herring, Derek Trucks, Susan Tedeschi, all members of the String Cheese Incident and Umphrey’s McGee and more. Also adding their names to the guitar were all four core members of the Grateful Dead, Weir, Phil Lesh, Bill Kreutzmann and Mickey Hart.

Proceeds from the auction will be split evenly among Participation Row’s 22 charities. An acoustic D’Angelico guitar, also signed by the same artists, was raffled off by HeadCount as well. The non-profit village, which originated at Lockn’ three years ago, also appeared at the Fare Thee Well concerts where a similar guitar was auctioned off for over $500,000.
