Marc Ford Plans New Album, Launches Kickstarter Campaign

Guitarist/singer/songwriter Marc Ford has announced that he’s heading into the studio in February to record his next solo album – his first since 2014’s Holy Ghost -and has launched a Kickstarter campaign to finance the effort. Ford will be accompanied by past collaborators the Neptune Blues Club (John Bazz on bass; Mike Malone on keys and harmonica; drummer Anthony Arvizu) for the sessions at San Francisco’s Tiny Telephone Studios with John Vanderslice at the controls.

“Since I spent the last couple of years recording and touring my ‘sensitive music,’” says Ford with a laugh, “it’s time to break out the fuzz, turn the amps up loud and play some rock and roll.” If Jim Hendrix was signed to Sun Records, but he made the record at Chess … if we can get a record that sounds anything like that, I’ll be happy.”

On his Kickstarter page he writes, “In the almost 30 years of working as a profession musician, songwriter, producer and class clown, I’ve been able to play with some incredible players. Black Crowes, Ben Harper, Booker T. Jones… Now I’m working at having a career AND a family…. I’m so excited to record, with your help, my 6th solo record in February. With a great band of some of my favorite players and friends. With John Bazz on bass, Mike Malone on keys and harmonica and Anthony Arvizu on drums this will be the Neptune Blues Club’s second record. The first spent a couple weeks at #15 on the blues radio charts. (Which is funny because it’s not really a blues band although, we can play it dirty, and not really a funk band although, it is funky, it’s country and it’s rhythm and blues, rock and roll, gospel mixed in with some space exploration) Since I spent the last couple of years recording and touring my sensitive music *wink* it’s time to break out the fuzz, turn the amps up loud and play some ROCK AND ROLL MUSIC!! “

The campaign requires $40,000 in pledges by February 24 for funding.
