Le Bataclan Makes First Statement Since Paris Attacks

November 16, 2015

Le Bataclan, the Paris music venue where 89 people were killed over the weekend as a part of a series of terrorist attacks on the city, has released its first statement following the tragedy. Posted to the venue’s social media accounts in French, the statement reads (after translation via EW):

“Dear friends, No words is enough to express the magnitude of our grief. Our thoughts are with the victims, the injured and their families. Many of you have wanted to gather in remembrance at the Bataclan. Unfortunately, the authorities still need to work at the site. We will keep you informed as soon as it is possible to you gather in front of the room. We thank you for your support which affects us deeply.”

Terrorists took control of the venue during an Eagles of Death Metal show, killing 89 in the venue with a capacity of roughy 1,200. Slate has compiled various eye-witness accounts from inside the venue, which was a part of attacks that ultimately killed at least 129 people and injured 352 others. Eagles of Death Metal’s merch manager Nick Alexander was one of the victims of the attack, and MGMT recently released a statement on his death. Alexander previously worked with MGMT along with other artists.
