Lars Ulrich Accepts Will Ferrell and Chad Smith’s Drum Battle Challenge

by Sam D'Arcangelo on June 12, 2014

Lars Ulrich has accepted doppelgangers Will Ferrell and Chad Smith’s drum battle challenge. Speaking with Spin, the Metallica drummer said:

It was a little lonely on the sidelines during the first drum-off, given the somewhat forced nature of the lookalike element between Chad Smith and Will Ferrell, when I’m TRULY the one carrying that dead-ringer gene around! As for any further drum-offs, I’m sure that with a bit of practice, I could give Chad a run for his money. But Will? That’s a whole different story. He rules the “bad-ass drummer universe.” I mean, you’re talking about a guy who’s so next level, actually, so beyond next level, that he may just be completely unreachable! That said, I’m definitely up for the challenge…Bring it on!!!

As previously reported, Ferrell and Smith recently got behind their kits for a drum battle on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. The pair went neck and neck for some time until Ferrell solidified his victory by taking up the cowbell for a rendition of “Don’t Fear The Reaper.”

There’s no word yet on when the next drum-off will take place or if it will be a charity event, as was the case with the Ferrell/Smith battle.
