If The River Was Whiskey: The Spin Doctors Share A Taste

A new Spin Doctors album is set for an April 30 release. If The River Was Whiskey places a particular focus on the blues-based original music that was the band’s early hallmark. As drummer Aaron Comess recalls, “We were four guys in our twenties,” remembers Aaron of early days in the late-’80s. “Our goal was to write our own songs and make a living doing it. The blues is such a big part of our roots, but one of the reasons we came up with such a big catalogue of blues songs back then is that we’d play these downtown blues bars in New York. You were supposed to play blues covers – but we were actually playing our own songs!” The quartet will support the record with a series of dates, starting on May 2 in Virginia Beach, VA. Five of the songs from If The River Was Whiskey are streaming below.

Spin Doctors Tour Dates

May 2 Neptune’s Park, 31st Street Virginia Beach, VA
May 4 Allure Nightlife Greensboro, NC
May 5 Jefferson Theater Charlottesville, VA
May 7 Brooklyn, NY Brooklyn Bowl
May 8 Rams Head On Stage Annapolis, MD
May 9 World Cafe Live Philadelphia, PA
