Revisiting The Radiators Reunion

The Radiators reunited for a pair of shows at Tipitina’s on January 18 and 19 as part of the New Orleans club’s 35th anniversary celebration. The Radiators had announced their impending break-up in 2010 and played their final shows—dubbed the The Last Watusi—at Tip’s from June 9-11, 2011. The members of the group have continued to collaborate in different settings over the past year and then for a brief performance at New Orleans’ The Howlin’ Wolf on May 1 at a benefit for bassist Reggie Scanlan, who had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer (According to Nola.com his cancer is now in remission). The group’s two night at Tips last week, saw a variety of family members sit in as well as Bonerama trombone player Mark Mullins. A couple songs from the 18th are now streaming on Relix.com as part of our Relix Live Fridays series
