"Weir Here" with Bob Weir, Dave Schools, John Barlow and Steve Parish

Bob Weir hosted his first Weir Here broadcast from his Marin County TRI Studios last night. Like his 2012 Weir Here broadcasts, the Grateful Dead/Furthur guitarist answered questions and performed a few acoustic songs. Only this time, Weir asked fans to send over their questions before the broadcast.

Weir opened the evening with a solo take on “Monkey and the Engineer.” Then, Widespread Panic bassist Dave Schools, who lives in the area, joined Weir on “K.C. Moan,” “Me and My Uncle,” “Good Morning Little Schoolgirl,” “West L.A. Fadeaway,” Bob Dylan’s “Most of the Time” and a segue from “Dark Star” into “The Other One.” A lifelong Deadhead, School spent most of 2012 playing the group’s music as a member of Mickey Hart Band.

Keeping with the evening’s conversational feel, Weir and Schools chatted between “Me and My Uncle” and “Good Morning Little Schoolgirl.” Weir, Grateful Dead lyricist John Barlow and longtime Dead crew member Steve Parish also participated in a conversation dubbed What’s Buggin’ Barlow before “Most of the Time.”

Who has the text to Barlow’s take on guns? It was brilliant!

I agree, Barlow’s comment on guns was great! Hope to see it online soon.

I disagree. The second amendment is for the people to be armed to prevent a tyrannical government from slowly but surely taking over. Assault weapons and large clips help equal the playing field for when that fight happens. Those people who don’t believe in having firearms in their house for this purpose blindly aide and support the coming grip of tyranny.

There have always been nativist and extremely fearful elements in US society, illustrated by the previous post, who believe a primitive law protecting a farmer’s musket so he could hunt game and kill indians 3 fucking centuries ago applies to today’s society. To be against comprehensive gun control has always been outrageously immoral and fantastically stupid yet after little kids get blown away in a school this ‘position’ becomes egregious beyond words.
