The Rascals To Reunite, Steve Van Zandt Starts Kickstarter Campaign to Underwrite Production

As first reported in the New York Times, the Rascals will finally reunite later this year. The four original members of the Rascals have not toured together since the early 70s. In 1997 they came together when they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Steven Van Zandt spoke on their behalf and has long sought to reunite the influential group, best known for such songs as “Good Lovin’” and “Groovin’.” Van Zandt is the architect of their return which will take place on December 13-15 at the Capitol Theater in Port Chester, NY (the venue which recently re-opened through the efforts of Relix publisher Peter Shapiro). Van Zandt told the Times, β€œIt’s a hybrid of a live concert and a Broadway show, through a mixed-media presentation of a theatrical event. The four original guys will be performing, as they would in a regular concert, with a couple other elements mixed in – their own narration of their story, the history of the Rascals, done on these big screens, and then segments of actors playing them at critical points in their career.” Van Zandt has started a Kickstarter campaign to help underwrite the project.

Tickets to the shows will go on sale Friday at 11 AM.
