Dave Matthews Band Reveals New Single, Album Art

With the release of their seventh studio album less than two months away, Dave Matthews Band has revealed their first single and album art for the Steve Lillywhite-produced, Away From the World. “Mercy” will serve as the lead single, which hits iTunes and all digital formats today along with a full album pre-order.
Matthews first debuted the delicate, acoustic number with a solo performance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon for Fallon’s special episode with President Barack Obama. The band has since played the song multiple times during their 2012 Summer Tour along with five others. The cover art for Away From the World and the “Mercy” single, much like 2009’s Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King , was hand-illustrated by Matthews (see above).
Fans who preorder the album via iTunes will receive five additional live bonus tracks from the band’s 2012 Summer Tour (“Gaucho”, “Sweet”, and “Mercy” are listed so far). If you are a member of the band’s official fan association, The Warehouse, you will receive eight live bonus tracks with the album pre-order. As previously reported, Away From the World is set for release on September 11.
Dave Matthews Band’s summer tour takes aim at South Florida this weekend, with shows in Tampa and West Palm Beach, FL before beginning a West Coast run.
