Lollapalooza Confirms 2012 Lineup

Red Hot Chili Peppers, Black Sabbath, The Black Keys, Jack White, Avicii, Justice,Florence + The Machine and At The Drive-In are among the acts scheduled to headline Lollapalooza. As previously reported, the three-day fest will take place at Chicago’s Grant Park from August 3-5 featuring over 130 acts. This year the Red Hot Chili Peppers will celebrate the 20th anniversary of their famed performance on the Lollapalooza ’92 tour.

Other acts slated to appear include: Bassnectar, The Shins, and Passion Pit, Bloc Party, The Temper Trap, Delta Spirit, Alabama Shakes, Santigold, Kaskade, Yellow Ostrich, Oberhofer, Dry The River, fun., Of Monsters And Men, Gary Clark Jr., Dr. Dog, Bowerbirds, JJ Grey & Mofro, Orchard Lounge, Neon Indian, GIVERS, the Devil Makes Three, The Walkmen and Amadou & Mariam, among others.

Black Sabbath’s Lollapalooza appearance will be the group’s only North American date in 2012. The influential group recently scrapped its touring plans due to guitarist Tony Iommi’s ongoing battle with lymphoma. Their only other confirmed date is a spot at Leicestershire, UK’s Download festival. Likewise, both The Afghan Whigs and At the Drive-In are also on tour for the first time in a decade.

“This year our multi-colored lollipop swirls black and white with Black Sabbath, Jack White, and The Black Keys,” festival founder Perry Farrell said in a statement. “Two Electronic acts, Justice and Avicii will be presented on the main stages… Can it get any heavierin the park?”

In addition to marquee acts like Santigold, Kaskade and Bassnectar, the electronic-focused Perry’s stage will present rising acts like Paper Diamond, Big Gigantic, Little Dragon and Porter Robinson. Additional acts and activities will be confirmed in the coming weeks.
