Phil Lesh, Some Family and Friends at Terrapin Crossroads This Weekend

As previously reported, Phil Lesh’s Terrapin Crossroads will have a “Casual Opening” from March 8-11. According to the bassist’s camp, the venue/restaurant will be “serving a lounge menu and creative drinks, to give you a taste of what’s to come when we officially open the restaurant in a few months. And best of all, you can expect Phil to be dropping by often to play in the lounge with Grahame along with some friends including Tim, John and Andy from Railroad Earth who will join Phil in the lounge on March 11.”

In addition, fans boxed out of the venue’s all-star opening weeks have a second chance to score some tickets. Terrapin Crossroads held a number of tickets for band family and friends for every show, and the venue will release unused tickets 48 hours before every show. These will only be available online and Crossroads will send out a “Twitter missive” and a Facebook post every time they release some additional tickets. The venue’s official opening will take place on March 17 featuring Phil Lesh, Grahame Lesh, Brian Lesh, Chris Robinson (Black Crowes), Jeff Chimenti (RatDog, Furthur), Jimmy Herring (Widespread Panic), Joe Russo (Furthur, The Duo) and Bob Weir.

All good, but no mention of where this is located? Haven’t a clue.

The venue is in San Rafael, CA – the former Seafood Peddler right by the junction of the 101 and the 580. Saw tonight’s show with Nicki and Tim Bluhm, Grahame Lesh, and others and it was truly magical – like something old-timey and new fangdangled and freakin’ fun!

That’s right! If Phil hadn’t bought the Seafood Peddler, it may have been years before TC happened. For the latest Terrapin Crossroads news, reviews, photos, videos and all that, check out TerrapinLanding.com: http://www.terrapinlanding.com/news.html

When I was young I would go to concerts at the Avalon Ballroom and The Filmore, in San Francisco in the late 1960’s. There were new eeirgmng groups like The Jefferson Airplane, The Grateful Dead, and Big Brother and the Holding Company with the unknow Janis Joplin as the vocalist. It was crowded auditoriums with hundreds of sweaty people dancing the night away. That gave way to smaller venues. I would go to the jazz clubs and hear the likes of Miles Davis, Thelonius Monk, Phoebe Snow, and so on.Now I don’t care for crowds and tend to stray away from concerts. Although we have had some summer music festivals in the local city park. Jazz, Big Band, and even Irish music. A blanket on the grass on a warm Summer evening. I can handle that.
