New Ani in 2012

Ani DiFranco will release Which Side Are You On?, her first album in three years, on January 17, 2012. The collection features 11 new songs alongside a radically reworked, funk rendition of the classic title track, famously popularized Pete Seeger nearly five decades ago. Seeger is one of several guests slated to appear on the album, which will come out on DiFranco’s Righteous Babe Records.
Keyboardist Ivan Neville, percussionist Cyril Neville, saxophonist Skerik singer/songwriter Anaïs Mitchell and guitarist Adam Levy (Norah Jones, Tracy Chapman, Amos Lee) will back DiFranco throughout her album. The singer/songwriter has also looked to her New Orleans neighbors for support and includes members of the Galactic, Bonerama, and The Rebirth Brass Band horn sections on select tracks.
Which Side Are You On? was co-produced by DiFranco and her longtime collaborator Mike Napolitano over a series of sessions in 2010 and 2011. The basic tracks were recorded at Bogalusa, Louisiana’s renowned Studio In The Country, Brooklyn, New York’s Brooklyn Bridge Studio, and her own New Orleans home studio, The Dugout.
