Robert Plant, Dark Star Orchestra, The Mother Hips and More Will Play for Free in Golden Gate Park

San Francisco’s annual roots music festival Hardly Strictly Bluegrass will take place from September 30-October 2 at the Speedway Meadow in Golden Gate Park. As in years past, the festival—which is hosted by San Francisco venture capitalist and bluegrass enthusiast Warren Hellman—will be completely free. This year’s lineup is incredibly diverse, including: Punch Brothers featuring Chris Thile, Dark Star Orchestra, M. Ward, Robert Plant & the Band of Joy, The Low Anthem, Charlie Musselwhite, Hot Buttered Rum, Del McCoury Band with Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Emmylou Harris, Bela Fleck, Zakir Hussain & Edgar Meyer, Chris Isaak, Patty Griffin, Elbow, A.A. Bondy, Patti Griffin, Broken Social Scene, Buddy Miller, Steve Earle, Woods, Greensky Bluegrass, John Prine, Kris Kristofferson, Merle Haggard, The Flatlanders, The Band of Heathens, Justin Townes Earle, Buckethead, Jessica Lea Mayfield, Ricky Skaggs, The Jayhawks, Bright Eyes, Dr. John & the Lower 911, Gillian Welch, Ollabelle, The Felice Brothers, The Mother Hips, Abigail Washburn, Ralph Stanley & the Clinch Mountain Boys and The Blind Boys of Alabama, among many others.
