Levon Helm Welcomes Emmylou Harris, Joan Osborne, David Bromberg and Shawn Colvin in NYC
Numerous guests sat in with Levon Helm Band last night at New York’s Central Park SummerStage. Hayes Carll and Emmylou Harris opened the show and Harris joined Helm for “Evangeline.” Harris sang “Evangeline” in The Band’s The Last Waltz. Later in the show, David Bromberg made a surprise appearance with Helm and his band on “Tongue,” a song he recorded with Helm on his new studio album Use Me (some of the album
was recorded in Helm’s Woodstock, NY-area studio). At the end of the night, Harris, Bromberg and Carll returned to the stage with Joan Osborne, Tift Merritt and Shawn Colvin for Helm’s traditional
