Mother Hips Get Their Own Beer

The Mother Hips and Sierra Nevada beer both hail from Chico, CA. The brewery will mark The Hips’ 20th anniversary this year with a special Hips Helles beer, which was hand-picked by Hips frontman Tim Bluhm. As the band explains, “Helles is a light and very drinkable lager. Tim was invited to the brewery to help brew this amazing beer. It is currently only available on tap at Sierra Nevada Brewery in Chico but will also be available at the 3rd Annual Mother Hips Family Hipnic. The beer has received an amazing response so far. We’re keeping our fingers crossed that Sierra Nevada will continue to produce this beer on a regular basis and distribute to a wider audience.”

The group also marked its 20th anniversary with the new book Now We Give It To You by noted photographer Jay Blakesberg. The group will perform at Bridgeport, CT’s Gathering of the Vibes on July 21.
