The National’s Pop Up Show
The National played a surprise acoustic show Sunday night at The Living Room, a new wellness center located in Cold Spring, NY. The intimate show celebrated the center’s grand opening and was announced to the general public a few hours earlier via Twitter. A stripped down version of the group—singer Matt Berninger, bassist Scott Devendorf and guitarist Aaron Dessner—played a short set that included “Anyone’s Ghost,” “Apartment Story,” “Slow Show,” “Wasp Nest,” “Bloodbuzz Ohio,” “Fake Empire,” “About Today” and “Vanderlyle Crybaby Geeks” for approximately 150 fans. The group also joked that they are available for “Bar Mitzvahs” and welcomed some additional horns.
The National has also confirmed a series of US dates. The band will play a few fall shows with Yo La Tengo and Wye Oak. The National played a surprise opening set for Yo La Tengo in Hoboken, NJ during Hanukkah.
