The Roots Will Back Rakim, Questlove Enlists Booker T. Kraz, Bartz and McBride
The Roots have announced a week of events in New York City, set to kick off next Monday. First off, drummer Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson has assembled a group to perform over two nights at New York City’s Blue Note. Questlove will joined by Booker T. Jones, Eric Krasno, Gary Bartz and Christian McBride on June 20 and 21 at both 9:00 PM and 11:30 PM. Then on Wednesday the 22nd at the Blue Note, The Roots will appear along with Rakim to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Rakim’s album Paid in Full by interpreting the album in its entirety on at 9:00 PM and 11:30 PM. Finally on Thursday the 23rd the group will perform at New York City’s Town Hall at the launch of the Rebuild the Dream event sponsored by Van Jones.
