Widespread Panic Announces Mexico Event for 2012

Widespread Panic will host the first Panic en la Playa destination event at Mexico’s Mayan Riviera from January 31 – February 4, 2012. The festival is the latest event organized by Cloud 9, the people behind Mayan Holidaze, Jam Cruise and Holy Ship! Panic en la Playa will take place against the backdrop of the beautiful Now Sapphire Resort & Spa.
Panic en la Playa will have a limited capacity of 1,000 fans and will feature four full Widespread Panic shows. The festival will also boast several additional activities and excursions. Cloud 9 explains, “Located in the small fishing town of Puerto Morelos, 15 minutes south of Cancun in the Mayan Riviera, days at the resort will be spent relaxing by the pool, taking a swim in the ocean, or enjoying the incredible on-site restaurants and spa. Then, as the sun goes down, Widespread Panic will take the stage for a full two-set show each night.” These shows will likely be the group’s final shows before embarking on an extended hiatus in 2012.
