Howard Levy Rejoins The Flecktones for Rocket Science

Back in 1988 when Bela Fleck first assembled a group for a one-off performance on the PBS Lonesome Pine Special, he drew in bassist Victor Wooten, percussionist Roy “Futureman” Wooten and pianist/harmonica player Howard Levy. These four musicians soon committed to the quartet on a full-time basis as Bela Fleck & The Flecktones. Levy departed in 1992 and the band performed and recorded as a trio for the next few years until Jeff Coffin joined in 1998. Following the death of LeRoi Moore in 2008, Coffin began performing with the Dave Matthews Band. The next year Levy returned to the Flecktones fold for a tour and this original quartet has now completed a new studio album. Rocket Science is set for a May 17 and the group will begin a series of gigs in support of the new disc later that same month.
