New Album from G. Love and The Avett Brothers Set for February Release

As we first reported last month, the Avett Brothers have produced G. Love’s new studio album Fixin’ To Die. Set for a February 22 release on Brushfire Records, the disc was recorded at Echo Mountain Studios in Asheville, NC. The musicians met last year in Boston and soon shared their mutual affection for “back road blues.” They performed together and began a friendship that led to the recording sessions which feature Scott and Seth Avett not only behind the board but in the performance studio as well. In addition to original music from G. Love, the release also contains a version of Bukka White’s “Fixin’ To Die” and a re-arranged take on Paul Simon’s “50 Ways to Leave Your Lover.”

Scott Avett looks backs on the sessions and explains, “There’s a little bit of this record on all the previous G. Love records, you just had to look for it. This is the record we all knew he should make and he could make, but again, he had to open himself to the core to make it. That’s the difference.”
