Santana Previews Guitar Heaven with Guests in Vegas
Santana’s next studio recording Guitar Heaven: The Greatest Guitar Classics Of All Time will feature guest musicians on every track. Scott Weiland, Chris Cornell, Nas, Janelle Monáe, Joe Cocker, Jacoby Shaddix and Pat Monahan, among the participants. On Wednesday night, Carlos enlisted some of the artists who perform on the disc to join him at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino’s music venue, The Joint. India.Arie performed The Beatles’ “While My Guitar Gently Weeps,” which appears on Guitar Heaven and Billie Holiday’s “God Bless the Child,” which does not. Chris Daughtry then lent his voice to Def Leppard’s “Photograph,” which also is on the new disc. Finally Gavin Rossdale delivered lead vocals on T. Rex’s “Bang a Gong (Get it On),” as he does on the album, followed by a cover of The Zombie’s “She’s Not There.” Guitar Heaven: The Greatest Guitar Classics Of All Time is due out on September 21.
