Brian Eno to Release New LP
You may know him as Eno, CSJ Bofop or Ben Arion—either way, he’s coming out with a new album on Warp Records.
Eno has been busy the last three years, both as a musician and producer (or “sonic landscaper” as his management calls him). In 2007, he produced Coldplay’s acclaimed fourth studio album, Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends. When that album hit shelves the following year, he was already busy with Grace Jones’ Hurricane. Eno also collaborated with Daniel Lanois on U2’s twelfth studio effort, No Line on the Horizon, which was released in 2009. In terms of his own music, he teamed up with David Byrne for 2008’s Everything That Happens Will Happen Today.
The audience of the 2009 Luminous Festival at Sydney Opera House, which Eno curated, saw him perform three live improvised shows under the name Pure Scenius with The Necks, Karl Hyde from Underworld, Jon Hopkins and Leo Abrahams.
Eno was the artistic director of 2010’s Brighton Festival and returned live with the Pure Scenius concept and the same lineup. He also closed the festival with a sold out lecture that encouraged listeners to “see art as everything that we don’t have to do and a chance to exercise surrender.”
And now Eno is about to release his first major solo album since 2005’s Another Day On Earth. Although no official date is set, the Warp says that the record is to hit shelves “soon.”
