A Lineup Change for Newport Folk

Justin Townes Earle has pulled out of this weekend’s Newport Folk Festival after slicing his hand. The songwriter requires 18 stitches, but is expected to make a recovery. Elvis Perkins In Dearland will fill his slot at the festival. According to the event’s promoters, “Exactly 45 minutes after receiving the news our good friends, Elvis Perkins In Dearland happened to call us for tickets to come to the festival simply as fans. We said we could do one better…and asked them if they would like to play, and they said YES!!!!”

Newport Folk will take place in Newport, RI on July 31 and August 1. Levon Helm, Jim James, the Swell Season, the Avett Brothers and Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros are among the acts scheduled to appear at the event.

Elvis Perkins in Dearland are awesome. A worthy replacement indeed.
