Radiohead’s Phil Selway Releases First Track from New Album

By Some Miracle by Philip Selway

Radiohead’s Phil Selway today released the first track off his debut solo album, Familial. The track, “By Some Miracle,” features Selway singing and is available for download here.

Selway’s backing band for the album features Lisa Germano, Sebastian Steinberg and Wilco drummer Glenn Kotche and multi-instrumentalist Pat Sansone.

As the album’s publicity notes, “The very first seeds of Familial were planted in 2001 when Neil Finn organized an impromptu gathering of talent, including Johnny Marr, Eddie Vedder, Lisa Germano, former Soul Coughing bassist Sebastian Steinberg, Selway and his Radiohead bandmate Ed O’Brien, in aid of charity.”

The collective’s second recorded effort, last year’s double-disc The Sun Came Out, saw Selway, for the first time, take a lead vocal (“The Ties That Bind Us” which is featured on Familial).

The album will be released August 1. It is now available for pre-order
