Gathering of The Vibes 2010: Primus, Marley & Nas, New Rhythm Devils, Umphrey’s McGee
Bridgeport, CT’s Gathering of The Vibes will shake things up this year. Primus, Damian Marley & Nas and Jimmy Cliff will all perform at the 15th annual event, which will take place from July 29-August 1. Though this is Primus’ first appearance at the festival, the group’s frontman Les Claypool appeared at Vibes in 2000, 2001 and 2007. The group’s current drummer, Jay Lane, has also played Vibes numerous times as a member of RatDog.
Gathering of the Vibes nonetheless will maintain its roots in Grateful Dead, classic jambands and Bay Area music. The Vibes has the first announced summer performance by Rhythm Devils featuring Keller Williams, in which Bill Kreutzmann and Mickey Hart will be joined by Williams, Davy Knowles, Sikiru Adepoju and Andy Hess. Other artists set to appear include: Robert Randolph & The Family Band, Umphrey’s McGee, Galatic, Mixmaster Mike, Martin Sexton featuring Ryan Montbleau, Jackie Greene, Little Feat, The Radiators, Dark Star Orchestra, Steve Kimock Crazy Engine, Donna Jean Godchaux Band, New Riders of the Purple Sage, Assembly of Dust, Deep Banana Blackout, Harlem Gospel Choir, Big Sam’s Funky Nation and Zach Deputy and King For a Day.
