Last night, Disco Biscuits guitarist Jon Gutwillig injured his wrist following a gig in Albany, NY and will miss a few upcoming shows. The group’s performance at Boston’s House of Blues tonight will take place without Gutwillig and is now free of charge. The band confirms, “Refunds will be available for any ticket purchaser at point of purchase. If you used cash to purchase your tickets, remember to hold onto your ticket stub. PLEASE NOTE YOU WILL NEED TO SHOW YOUR TICKET TO GET INTO TONIGHT’S SHOW BUT YOU WILL STILL BE REFUNDED.”
The Disco Biscuits’ performance at Montclair, NJ’s Wellmont Theater this Saturday has been postponed, while the band’s Brooklyn Bowl show this Sunday will feature special guest Tom Hamilton (Brothers Past). Bassist Marc Brownstein tweets, “In good news, Brooklyn will go on, with the help of Tommy ‘the ham sandwich’ Hamilton. Hopefully barber will be up for some singing/tapping.” Other guests are expected.
Looking ahead, the Biscuits’ performance at Miami, FL’s Ultra Music Festival on March 26 will take place as planned. The group plans to confirm its lineup for that show next week. The ensemble’s instrumental TractorBeam show at Miami’s Grand Central the same weekend will also still take place as scheduled.
Gutwillig is currently undergoing surgery on his wrist in New York. Back in the early hours of 2003, Gutwillig also broke his arm following the band’s New Year’s Eve performance at Philadelphia’s Electric Factory.
On Tuesday the group released its latest studio recording, Planet Anthem. The single “On Time” cracked the Top 50 on the Billboard Dance Charts.
