Daniel Lanois and Trixie Whitley: A Look at Black Dub
Late last year Daniel Lanois debuted his latest musical venture, Black Dub,. The group also features drummer Brian Blade (Wayne Shorter), bass player Daryl Johnson (Neville Brothers, Emmylou Harris) and vocalist Trixie Whitley, the daughter of the late Chris Whitley. Lanois, who has produced records for such artists as U2, Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, Peter Gabriel and the Neville Brothers, recently stopped by the Relix offices along with Whitely. The two performed “Surely You Were Meant To Be Mine” which we captured for our Live at Relix series and currently can be viewed at the site.
