The String Cheese Incident Close Electric Forest with Greensky Bluegrass, Joel Cummins

June 27, 2016

The String Cheese Incident closed down their Electric Forest Festival with another guest-filled show that included appearances from Greensky Bluegrass and Umphrey’s McGee’s Joel Cummins.

To kick things off, the band welcomed out the Michigan grass rockers for a pair of unique covers in JJ Cale/Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Call Me the Breeze” as well as Prince’s “When Doves Cry,” the latter of which Greensky employs fairly regularly in their own show.

About halfway through the second set, it was Cummins’ turn to join Kyle Hollingsworth on keys for their tune “Bumpin’ Reel.” Cummins and Umphrey’s weren’t on the lineup, but the keyboardist traveled in to sit in with various bands like Turbo Suit, Aqueous and others.

To round out the collaborations, Greensky’s Anders Beck joined the band for “Restless Wind” to close out the second set. Osborne also added to the “I Know You Rider” encore before the ensemble departed the stage.
