Report: Electric Forest Planning Two-Weekend Event in 2017

August 31, 2016

It appears as if Electric Forest is plotting an expansion to two weekends in 2017 as music festival hub The Festive Owl is reporting that the Rothbury, MI fest has submitted and signed permits for back to back weekends of music.

The report also notes that permits have been signed and discussion among city council is happening now with the permits expected to be approved.

Originally the site of Rothbury Music Festival, permit approval has constantly been a subject of controversy with the Double JJ Ranch and The Grant Township Council. In 2014, there was fear the council would not approve a 2015 edition of Electric Forest despite the festival signing on for ten years. This year, the festival lobbied for an expansion of operating hours, only to have that denied. Rothbury’s undoing after just two years also came in part due to permit issues and lack of property ownership clarity which led to legal issues.

Electric Forest 2016 took place back in June with sets from The String Cheese Incident, Bassnectar, Major Lazer, The Disco Biscuits, Greensky Bluegrass, STS9 and more.
