Tour Bus Tunes (Playlists from Marco Benevento, Galactic, Zach Deputy…)
Zach Deputy
My favorite stuff to listen to is usually really old. I also like to buy random albums as well. For instance I just bought a CD that is Bill Cosby singing the blues, it’s a fun listen. I also receive tons of CDs from different random bands across the country. Sometimes they’re my opening act and sometimes it’s just a random artist that really wants me to hear their music. Either way I try to give them all a listen. My personal favorites are Ray Charles, James Brown, Bobby McFerrin, Donny Hathaway, Harry Belafonte, Tito Puente, Lettuce, D’Angelo , My buddy Ryan Montbleau and last but not least a little Michael Jackson will get you grooving. Those are just a few of the jams kicking around the tour bus.

Kneebody “I’m Your General”
The Bad Plus “And Here We Test Our Powers of Observation”
Ben Allison “Tricky Dick”
Stevie Wonder “Higher Ground”
Medeski Martin & Wood “End of The World Party”
Michael Jackson “Get on The Floor”
Aphex Twin “Jynweythek Ylow”
Brian Blade “Crooked Creek”
If it’s early morning and we have a long ride ahead of us we will start with something mellow for the day like Brian Blade. If we’re in a rush, we listen to something more fast-paced and full of energy like Kneebody. Sometimes it’s a battle over who controls the radio, which will then be decided with a game of Rock Paper Scissors…. Best out of 3
