Pearl Jam Releases Second Single “Sirens” (Official Video)

September 18, 2013

With the release of their tenth studio album just under a month away, Pearl Jam released their second single, “Sirens,” from Lightning Bolt today. The emotional ballad follows the punk rock lead single “Mind Your Manners” released earlier this month. Lightning Bolt is due out October 15, and preorders are currently underway.

“Sirens” features a powerful vocal performance from Eddie Vedder, with lyrics that touch on the subjects of love, loss, loneliness, and ultimately emotional acceptance. Vedder pleads, “it’s a fragile thing, this life we live,” before ending the song with “I studied your face and the fear goes away” as the band fades out. Musically, the entire band is on point. Guitarist Mike McCready utilizes both acoustic and electric guitars during different parts of the song, and takes a blistering solo, much like his work in “Mind Your Manners.” Drummer Matt Cameron also shines, holding the band together as efficiently as ever. Check out the full video for “Sirens” and stay tuned for more PJ updates as October 15 draws closer.
