And Miles To Go Before I Sleep: On Tour with the Grateful Dead Summer 1993 (Relix Screening Room)

Peter Shapiro was an undergraduate at Northwestern when he directed this documentary film, which explores the lives of Deadheads on the 1993 summer tour. Here is the complete film, which we originally posted in 6 parts. Click here for an interview Shapiro in which he talks a bit more about the origins and development of And Miles To Go.

The opening sequence blends classic Acid Test footage with an introduction to the Dead scene circa 1993.

Timothy Leary, Al Franken, John Barlow, Rock Scully and Ken Kesey all appear in this portion of the film.

Chris Barron, Ice-T, Wavy Gravy and some intrepid police officers offer their thoughts in this section.

An expanded exploration of the parking lot scene, with commentary by John Barlow and former Grateful Dead Ticketing Service head Steve Marcus.

Grateful Dead Hour host David Gans and former Dead manager Rock Scully are among those who lend their perspectives to this part of the documentary.

Ken Kesey, Timothy Leary, Wavy Gravy, William F. Buckley and others offer their closing summations.
