A High Sierra Music Festival Playlist

Now over a decade old, the High Sierra Music Festival has become known for its eclectic lineups that, in the past, have included Relix favorites Bob Weir, Umphrey’s McGee, Widespread Panic and moe. alongside indie and electronic names like DeVotchKa, Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros and Pretty Lights. This year’s roster is no different, offering a wide variety of genres and sounds. To help you sort through it all and warm up for your weekend in the mountains, here’s our list of songs to try by ten of High Sierra’s featured artists.

For more info on High Sierra and the summer festival season, check out our festival site.

Heartless Bastards, “Only For You”
The Heartless Bastards are experts at making classic rock songs with a soulful tinge.

Matisyahu, “Sunshine”
The tracks off of Matisyahu’s upcoming album will make for a mostly upbeat set at the festival. The lead single, in particular, sways heavily towards electronic pop.

The Lumineers, “Stubborn Love”
The Lumineers are gaining traction with their eponymous debut that came out earlier this year. Their folk songs are powerful and poignant.

Marco Benevento, “Fireworks”
Known for his virtuosic instrumentals and collaborations, Marco Benevento is a must-see at High Sierra. “Fireworks” is one of his most recent and sunnier numbers.

Deer Tick, “Miss K”
This is a particularly light and catchy example of Deer Tick’s alternative country sound.
