For me it was bittersweet. I really enjoyed connecting with everyone in the Panic family but I has trouble at times savoring the night, knowing that it might well be my last NYE with everyone for some time. I KNOW I shouldn’t have been so disappointed, and I wasn’t per se (or even outwardly) but it was always hanging there, in my peripheral vision…

This was my couch tour debut. I hooked up the set, enjoyed a few bevies with some friends and watched me some Phish. The sound was quite good, the performance was often inspired and the line to the restroom was quite manageable.

My NYE started out bittersweet but ended epicly! I was really bummed that I would be Panic’s last NYE for some time. After some financial hardship and a job change, I just couldn’t pull the funds together. However, I decided to not spend the night whining and decided to buy a ticket to see Bassnectar in Nashville where I live. I’ve come to really appreciate what he does with music despite my once hate for anything dubstep. I spend the beginning of the night thinking about all my friends who were probably in line to see Panic and felt jipped as I was standing in line to see Bassnectar. But I put all that to the side and decided to try to enjoy myself. It ended up ranking as one of the best NYE I’ve ever experienced! The people, the vibe, the scenery, the lights, the music…I could go on and on! It was superb and unforgettable. I haven’t danced that much since the last time I saw Panic! It really was one for the books.

Ringing in the new years with moe. and fellow famoe.ly members in Portland Maine last weekend was absolutely amazing. Well.. amazing is an understatement. From the late night drunken babble between friends that haven’t seen each other since moe.down or previous shows from the fall tour, to the well played, solid sets the fellas treated us to, it was all so well put together. That 2nd set closer with ‘zoz’ was the icing on the cake because we all had an idea of what the 3rd set was to hold on 12/31. Seeing everyones faces with shit eating grins from ear to ear was priceless as the jammed the fan favorite ‘timmy tucker’ to close out the evening before the monsterous ‘godzilla’, that everyone was screaming and singing at the top of their lungs, to cap off a stellar weekend. I know everyone has their moe.ments but, if you weren’t in Portland, ya missed out for sure. The energy was enoguh to make sober people question, ‘whats in the water?’

My best NYE ever. On December 27th, my beautiful girlfriend turned to me and said, “You know, we can go to San Francisco, get married on NYE and do the Furthur show as our reception.” What a great idea! We flew from NYC on the 29th, scored a last minute ticket to the show that night, met up with my cousins on the 30th, scored face value tickets for the show that night, got married in an amazing ceremony in the lobby of our hotel at 5 PM on the 31st and rang in the New Year with Phil and Bob. One of life’s peak experiences.

So any Panic fan in NYC knows that if they come to town you better make it becuase they may stop by once a tour, but once is never enough when most other dates are just way out of reach. So when they posted their fall tour I was stoked… then realized the ONLY NYC date was on my wedding day, which I lobbied unsuccesfully to move a day in either direction ;o). That meant NYE in Charlotte was a must. So my wife and I decided to drive down with the wonderful couple who gave us the tickets as our wedding gift. Something special happens when Panic plays south of the Mason Dixon line because that arena was full of love, smiles, smoke and most importantly plugged in Panic for one more time in 2011. Have you seen the encore?!? On a side note, I guess things just do move a bit slower down south because the line to get in crawled and I know plenty of people missed Chilly to open the night despite arriveing 45 min early.

A deadhead since 1974…my “bucket list” included seeing the band in San fran on new years. Woah where does the time go …this year, after a particularly rough 2011 including the passing of my spouse of 30 years, I decided it was time . A kind dear friend since the old days lives out west and we decided to finally go…and Furthur we went. All three nites…San Francisco …the vibe…the music . It was perfect. I got everything I could hope for…sugar mags smar midnite; a concluding “I know u rider” after a china cat from two nites earlier : fire on the mountain after two nites earlier scarlet…new friends …old friends. One if the few times in my life when expectations met reality. Thank you bobby …Phil…John…Jeff …everyone. You made this hersey girl proud and happy to be a part of this scene .

Furthur’s 3 night run in SF…topped off on NYE w/a fire breathing dragon, balloon drop, Father Time, and Sugar Magnolia. “I wanna thank you…for a real good time!”
