10/31/94 Glens Falls hands down. Phish covering a Beatles double album? Epic!

moe., Ryman Auditorium, Nashville – 10/31/04. I’ve seen many a show at this amazing venue, but moe’s country-themed Halloween was the rowdiest by a long shot. Be careful when listening to the recording; the crowd roars might just blow your speakers.

Strong doses everywhere in that parking lot. The lights went down and the band came on and began their interminable tuning. After a bit the tuning took a life of it’s own, the volume ratcheted up and it wasn’t just tuning but a ful fledged eerie Space. There were howls and cackles and evil laughter from Phil then – from nowhere – came the instantly recognizable notes of -Werewolves of London opener! This was an acid test show, word went around to focus on a suprise in the drum solo, The tempo built up and a strong wind appeared to swirl the arena, strong enough to blow out a bic lighter! Totally freaky! Although …getting laid at a show, by a total stranger, was a throw-back to the old days making 31OCT Wembley ´90 a treat!

My favorite Halloween show was RatDog in 2007 in Westbury. Shakedown Street was costumed to the hilt, super party atmosphere. The setlist was epic with a Werewolves of London encore. Mark Karan was recovering, but Steve Kimock’s jams were fantastic. Music went to outer spaces that I’ve never been to. We all miss the Dog Bobby-come back please

While I would love to have been at Phish’s Glens Falls show in ’94 (I live 45 mins from there, but was only 13 at the time). Its a tie between Phish’s Halloween show from last year in AC and Phish’s Halloween show at Festival 8.

Hey August West – you forgot to mention Franken and Davis as the host MC’s. Raffling off Jerry’s missing finger was a hoot.
