Last night, the Cubs clinched Game 6 of the NLCS with a game-ending double play sending the beloved Chicago baseball club to the World Series for the first time in 71 bleepin’ years. 

It’s a long time to wait for success, especially with the heartbreak that the city has endured in the 108 years since their last World Series title, so naturally every Cubs superfan was on hand last night to soak in the glory from the friendly confines of Wrigley Field, including Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder. 

As the last out echoed through Wrigleyville, the camera shot to Cubs President of Baseball Operations Theo Epstein, who celebrated in his suite with other Cubs brass, family and Vedder, a close friend since his days at the Boston Red Sox. The Pearl Jam frontman, sporting a backwards Cubs hat and probably scoring the game on paper (he detailed as much during the band’s recent return to Fenway Park), celebrated like anyone would after seeing their team do something that hasn’t been done in 71 years. Surely, that celebration went deep into the night.
