Yes, That is Bob Weir on Stage with Sammy Hagar in Cabo Playing “Mas Tequila”

January 13, 2017

This story gets more bizarre as it goes on, so please stick with me: It all starts with Sammy Hagar in Cabo leading a Flashback Friday 80’s Extravaganza at the Cabo Wabo Cantina. Guests include such luminaries as Michael Anthony, Toby Keith, Eddie Money, Loverboy and, oddly enough, Bob Weir.

The show took place on January 6, and video has surfaced of Weir’s contribution to the show, which includes him joining Hagar and the band on “Mas Tequila,” the geographically-appropriate singalong and lead single to Hagar’s 1999 record Red Voodoo. Not exactly an 80’s flashback, but I suppose if the song has “tequila” in the title, it can be played in Cabo without context.

Regardless, the performance itself is quite bizarre as both Hagar and Weir hit the mic at various points in the 11-minute performance to tell stories about ninjas and such. It’s….something. Watch below.
