Wilco Visits ‘Colbert’ to Defend Their Current Album Title, Announce Future Album Titles and Perform

Wilco visited Late Show with Stephen Colbert last night in support of their Schmilco record, released earlier this month. Along with performing the ambling new tune “Someone to Lose,” frontman Jeff Tweedy appeared in a couple of sketches with Colbert, much like he did when the band appeared in support of their surprise Star Wars record.

The first found Jeff Tweedy jamming with Colbert, who apparently keeps a pair of didgeridoos on his person at all times. Colbert shows off his chops to a reluctant Tweedy, who ends up impressed enough to jam with the host. Tweedy then delivers a PSA of sorts, defending the band’s Schmilco album title. “Some people think we don’t work hard on our album titles,” Tweedy says. “In fact, tonight I want to share with you some future Wilco album titles.” Tweedy then (jokingly) reveals they’ll release Songs of Whatever, Meet the Beatles by Wilco and Empty Coke Can in the near future.

Oh, they also performed “Someone to Lose” from Schmilco with a very proud Ethan Hawke watching.
